JPG to ICO Converter

Turn a JPEG logo or photo into a proper multi-size .ico favicon — in your browser, batch included. An ICO file is just a 6-byte directory header pointing at embedded images; since Windows Vista those images are plain PNGs, so a 256×256 entry costs only a few kilobytes. Pick any combination of 16/24/32/48/64/128/256 px (default: 16+32+48+256 — the quartet Windows actually uses). JPEG carries no transparency, so icons are opaque; for alpha corners use the PNG variant.

FAQ

Which icon sizes should I include?

16, 32 and 48 cover Windows UI; 256 (stored as PNG) covers the taskbar and large views. That default quartet is what most favicon generators produce — we match it.

Why does my icon have no transparent corners?

JPEG doesn't support transparency. If you need rounded/transparent icons, start from a PNG with alpha and use the PNG to ICO converter instead.

Is .ico still needed in 2026?

For favicons, mostly no — modern browsers accept PNG. But Windows shortcuts, some Electron apps and legacy intranets still want a real .ico; generating one takes ten seconds here.
